Projects
Here are the projects I am currently working on/have worked on.
TheSpacer - My Science Communication Blog
I built this website using the AstroPaper theme in order to learn how better to use the terminal.
- As of 17/5/25, I have written 40 articles, each covering a different aspect. They represent a prototypical style that I hppe to pen
- You can see the website here:
MindNiche - My Physics Notes’ Organisation
I run and maintain a physics notes site, MindNiche. This is intended to be a ‘top-down’ overview of physics concepts, similar to that of wikipedia, but with a more lighthearted writing style and xkcd-style comics pertaining to each subject. The hope is for this website to turn into an “all-in-one” resource for research papers, where links to various concepts in research papers can be accessed for better understanding
I’ve attached some rough statistics below. The website uses a modified version of AnubisNekhet’s AnuPpuccin theme and is built using Obsidian Publish
STATS (JUNE 2025):
- Words: 120k
- Visits: 5k
Feel free to donate through the link here: https://Ko-fi.com/cheesyminecart. Any support helps me keep these two sites afloat!
Research
- In the Summer of 2024, I worked as a research intern for Dr. Andreas Ritter, a PostDoc at the Hong Kong Laboratory for Space Research, where I learnt SHAPEX and prepared a presentation using the Manim python library.
I am open to any REUs/UROPs available to me. Please message me whenever possible!
Astronomy Outreach
- I have worked as a volunteer for the Hong Kong-based Galaxy Scientific Group, where I taught children how to use telescopes by providing demonstrations of both the smart SeeStar S50 and various Celestron refractor telescopes.
Academic Competitions
During high school, I participated in academic competitions for both fun and the glory of victory. Attached below is a list of awards I received (in order of “impressiveness”):
- IAAC ‘23 Hong Kong National Award, Gold Award (Scored top 2% of all participants)
- British Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad Round 2 Bronze
- UWaterloo Sir Isaac Newton Physics Competition Distinction
- British Online Senior Physics Challenge Gold Award
- British Physics Olympiad ‘24 Global Bronze I
- Various Silver and Gold Awards for the British Senior Maths Challenge, or SMC.
Other things I do (MISC):
Here are a couple other things that I think may be relevant:
- I am a hobbyist astrophotographer, the process of which taught me proper maintenance of equipment and encouraged me to be more patient.
- I was the leader of the Dungeons and Dragons (DND) club for my school during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years, which gave me valuable insights into being an effective, encouraging leader.
- I was part of the GSIS Swim Team for 7 years.
- I led the GSIS Physics Society for the 2024-2025 academic year. I ran activities regarding telescopes and mounts, as well as hosted quizzes and made physics news segments to involve more people.
- I am also a hobbyist Scuba Diver and am an “Advanced Open Water Diver”, as per PADI certifications.
